SUMMARY:Rock Rehab Community: Thoracic Outlet Syndrome in Climbers
DESCRIPTION:Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS) is a challenging condition for climbers\, often presenting with arm pain\, numbness\, or weakness that can be mistaken for shoulder or cervical issues. This session will introduce the unique ways TOS can appear in climbing athletes\, including biomechanical and positional contributors. Through case discussions and practical applications\, participants will learn key assessment strategies\, differential diagnosis considerations\, and effective management approaches to keep climbers performing at their best. \nPresenter\nThomas Henry (TH) David is a doctor of physical therapy and avid rock climber specializing in the care of climbers across all levels. A graduate of St. Olaf College (BA\, Studio Art\, 2014) and the University of Colorado Anschutz (DPT\, 2020)\, he has worked extensively with Colorado climbing communities through The Spot and Denver Bouldering Club\, offering workshops\, consultations\, and one-on-one rehab. Now based in Minneapolis\, he brings a collaborative\, athlete-centered approach that emphasizes respect\, empowerment\, and strength. Outside the clinic and the crag\, he enjoys disc golf\, music\, family time\, and discovering new hobbies. \nLocation\nZoom \nTarget Audience\nLicensed physical therapists\, physical therapy assistants and certified athletic trainers \n  \nRegister here!

SUMMARY:Rehabilitation of the Injured Runner Live
DESCRIPTION:This course will provide an evidenced-based and practical approach to the evaluation and treatment of the injured runner. Didactic lectures will focus on current literature pertaining to epidemiology\, running mechanics\, and therapeutic exercise. Video-based case studies will also be presented to enhance the lectures and provide the “big picture” view of the injured runner. An overview of gait-analysis and running mechanics will be provided. Strategies for gait re-training will also be discussed. Participants are expected to have a basic understanding of biomechanics and gait analysis\, and are encouraged to review basic biomechanics of gait prior to the course. \nA video-based lab session will focus on gait analysis of the injured runner. Small groups will review and discuss mechanics and propose treatments based on the provided videos. The overall course objective is to provide participants with the “whole picture” of rehabilitating injured runners and provide practical treatments that maybe utilized immediately in the clinic. \nPresenter\nInstitute of Clinical Excellence \nLocation\nMotion Minnetonka\n5959 Baker Road Suite 340\nMinnetonka\, MN 55345 \nTarget Audience\nChiropractors\, Doctors of Medicine\, Doctors of Osteopathy\, Occupational Therapists\, Occupational Therapy Students\, Physical Therapist Assistants\, Physical Therapists\, Physical Therapy Students\, University Faculty \nLearning Objectives\nUpon completing this course\, you’ll be able to: \n\nUnderstand the epidemiology of the overuse injuries in running\nImplement load-management strategies to address running-related injuries\nSelect evidence-based exercises to address muscular imbalances in the injured runner\nDescribe the role of faulty running mechanics in the development of injury\nEvaluate and address common faulty running mechanics\n\nContact Hours: 16 hours\nSchedule:\n\nDAY ONE \n\n8:00am – 10:00am\nEpidemiology of Running Related Injuries \n10:00am – 12:00pm\nOrthopaedic Exam + Labs \n12:00pm – 1:00pm\nLUNCH \n\n\n1:00pm – 1:30pm\nShoes \n1:30pm – 5:00pm\nStrength Training for Runners + Strength Labs \n5:00pm\nRun! \n\n\n\nDAY TWO \n\n8:00am – 10:00am\nRunning Mechanics Evaluation + Labs \n10:00am – 12:00pm\nGait Retraining + Labs \n12:00pm – 1:00pm\nLUNCH \n\n\n1:00pm – 1:30pm\nGait analysis demo \n1:30pm – 3:00pm\nTaping techniques \n3:00pm – 4:00pm\nCase Studies \n4:00pm\nWrap-up \n\n\n  \nRegister here!
